{Pinterest Project}-Candy Cane Primitives

Ok, so my latest addiction is probably like everyone else's...Pinterest! I have pinned many project ideas on my boards and I am slowly being able to work on them! One of my favorite ideas is from Lipstick and Laundry. She made ADORABLE primitive Candy Canes and I just HAD to make my version of them! She has a wonderful tutorial on how to make them! She used small plastic candy canes for this project and I ended up finding some big plastic candy canes at Garden Ridge! I went to JoAnn Fabrics and found some adorable red & white ticking material and used it to wrap my candy canes!

Here is what they looked like before:

I just LOVE how they turned out! They are so festive with my Candy Cane/Gingerbread kitchen theme! :)

Thanks for stopping by! Have a wonderful & warm weekend!

Hugs,
Ruthie

1. Is all your Christmas shopping done? Yes! But I still need to wrap everything!

2. Do you decorate for Christmas and if so when? Yes, I am slowly getting my decorations out this year...I already have my tree up but I just put it up this last weekend. I still need to get my decor out in my kitchen!

3. Do you bake during the Holiday season? Not usually...I did, however, go to my friend's house the weekend before Thanksgiving, and we made a bunch of fudge! I made a WONDERFUL White Chocolate Peppermint Fudge! It was delish! :)

4. What are your favorite smells of this time of year? I love Vanilla, Apple Cinnamon, candles that smell like baked goods! YUMMY!

5. What are your favorite things to do during the Holiday Season? I love watching tons of Christmas movies, drinking hot chocolate, going to parties, looking at Christmas lights...there is a church that is not far from where I live and they always (every year) have a wonderful Christmas display all over their campus. I love to drive through it or get out and walk through it! It is so much fun!

~Musical Garland~

Hello lovelies! I want to show you some pics of a sheet music garland that I started working on last year. I just recently finished it up and I wanted you to see it! It was so easy to make and I think it really looks snazzy on my tree! I purchased an old hymnal from a local antique store and I used the pages to make my garland.

~This was before I put the ornaments on it~

~Ta-da! I think it looks fabulous! I just love how it turned out!~

Now I just need to get all my Christmas presents wrapped and put under it! There is nothing better than watching Christmas movies in the dark with just the glow of a well lit Christmas tree! It makes me smile! :)

I hope everyone has a good week! Stay warm!

Pecan Pie Anyone?

Hello friends! Happy Thanksgiving! Since Thanksgiving is today, I thought I would post my FIRST EVER pecan pie to make! Let me make this clear, in all my 32 years, this was my first one!! CRAZY I KNOW! LOL :) If I can do it...ANYONE CAN!

I am posting the recipe in case anyone wants to try it! It is easy peasy!

Ingredients:
‎9 inch unbaked pie crust
1 cup light corn syrup
1 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
3 eggs, slightly beaten
1/3 cup butter, melted
1 tsp. vanilla
1 heaping cup of pecan halves
1/3 tsp. salt

Heat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, combine corn syrup, sugar, eggs, butter, salt, and vanilla. Mix well. Pour filling into unbaked pie crust; sprinkle with pecan halves. Cover outer rim of pie crust with foil to prevent over browning. Bake at 350 for 45-50 minutes or until center is set. (toothpick inserted in center will come out clean when pie is done.) Cool. Enjoy!

I can't wait to dig into this bad boy! I just love pecan pie, don't you? Well, I hope each and every one of you have a WONDERFUL Thanksgiving and get to spend time with loved ones! Don't eat too much! ;)

Love,
Ruthie

1. Do you type on a keyboard the correct way or do you peck like a cute little chick? No, I do it the correct way! I took typing in high school and then I went on to a Business & Computer class at vo-tech so I definitely type the correct way! I have no excuse not too! :)

2. Typically how long does it take you to get ready in the morning? I get ready really fast...I usually take about a 5 to 8 minute shower and then I get my clothes on and I don't really wear makeup just powder and lip gloss and that is it! It probably takes me 10 to 15 minutes to get ready!

3. Do you prefer lip gloss or lipstick? I am a lip gloss girl! I love lip gloss! I found some really good stuff at Bath & Body Works that is called "Mentha Lip Tint" that I just absolutely love!!

4. Do you take clothes to the dry cleaner or wash them yourself even if they say dry clean only? I don't really buy clothes that are "Dry clean only" so I usually am able to wash and clean them at home...

5. Do you prefer Walmart or Target? Well, I normally shop at Walmart because I live like a mile away from one and I have to drive into town to even go to a Target...so I do most of my shopping at Walmart...plus I think they tend to be a little cheaper than Target anyway!

Lights, camera, ACTION!

Hello blog friends! It's been a couple weeks since I've posted anything and I PROMISE...I have a good reason! :) I have been an extra in a movie that is being filmed here in Oklahoma. It is called "Home Run" and it should be coming out around this time next year!

Here is what the movie is about: "A pro baseball player with an alcohol problem is forced to return to his hometown to face the pain he tried to ignore, the girl he wanted to forget, and the son he never knew".

Here is a link to the website: Home Run the movie

The main actor is a guy named Scott Elrod (he plays Cory Brand) and Vivica A. Fox plays his agent! She is really nice!

I got to be a nurse in the background when the main character "Cory" is visiting his brother in the hospital. The last couple days I was also filming as a baseball fan! They are suppose to finish filming this weekend. I hate to see them go! :( It is an interesting industry and it is really neat to see how it all comes together!

It is really cool to me because to be an extra in a movie is something that I have had on my bucket list for many years now and I finally had my chance! It is really tiring because we would be there for many many hours but it is totally worth it! :) I definitely wouldn't mind doing it again sometime! It is so much fun!

This movie should be out around baseball season of 2012, so be looking for it!

Have a GREAT Halloween weekend! Stay warm and safe!

Ruthie

~Happy Fall Ya'll~

Good morning friends! It is a beautiful day here in Oklahoma! I hope all is well where you live! :) Well, I put out my Fall decor in my kitchen this last week and I wanted to post a pic of it. I found the white wooden box (with cubbies) at a local craft show a few months ago. I was able to find a few things to put in it at another craft show a couple weeks ago. I also found the cute little crow/sunflower pillow at an antique mall last year for $1.00!

I just love this time of year! The days are getting a little colder, the leaves are starting to change colors, it is time to crack out the Chili/Taco soup, football games, Halloween, etc., etc...I could just go on and on! :) I also know it is time to put out my Fall/Halloween decor too! I probably won't get out my Halloween decor until a little closer to the time frame. So...stay tuned!

Thanks for stopping by! Have a wonderful day!

Stay tuned!

Have a lovely day!

~Caillou Cake~

Hello friends! I just wanted to post a pic of a cake that I made this weekend for my friend's son! I made him a 'Caillou' cake since that is his favorite tv show. His mom ordered an edible image and gave to me to use on his cake. It was the first time I've ever used one, and I was kind of scared to use it, but it wasn't as bad as I thought!

Here is how it turned out! I thought it was cute! The birthday boy and his family loved it!

~Veggie Tales Cake~

Real quickly, I just wanted to post a cake I made this weekend for a former classmate's son. She wanted a white cake with white icing and wanted a Veggie Tales theme. I decided to make Bob and Larry out of fondant to give it more of a textured look. I was so pleased with how it turned out! I think it is my best cake yet! Maybe I am getting better at this cake thing?! ;)

~Craft room Inspiration~

I just recently gave my old computer desk to my wonderful hubby (well, it's not OLD but I have had it for 6 yrs and I no longer use it) It is still in good shape so I am glad that he will be able to use it! However, with it gone from my room, it has left a big open space in my craft room! SO...I HAVE TO SAY...IT IS WITH GREAT SADNESS ;) that I now have to find a cabinet/dresser to store all my craft supplies and goodies in! I know...SAD isn't it? ;) I don't have an idea of what type of cabinet or dresser that I need but until I find that SPECIAL PIECE...I DID, however, come across some storage/organizaton ideas that I think will look great in my craft room! Here are a few items that I would love to find!

~Wire baskets-A must for my room!~ :)

~Glass jars-Aren't these lovely?~

~2 tiered wire basket-I could store a bunch of goodies in it!~

These are just a few items that I will be looking for...I am sure there are more ideas that I will be adding to the list! :) I can't wait to see it all come together!

Thanks for stopping by! Have a lovely day!
