Toad in a Hole?

For my birthday last year, my brother gave me a copy of The Pioneer Woman's (Ree Drummond's) cookbook! It is pretty cool because she lives in Oklahoma and that is where I live! My friend Stephanie and I decided we were going to prepare recipes out of the cookbook once a week. This weekend we tried out our 1st recipe! We decided to make Egg-in-a-hole since we had those ingredients on hand! They were soo good! I wasn't sure how they were going to taste but they were soo tasty!

Here is a pic of one we made!

I've heard there are alot of names for this recipe and here are few a few of them:

Egg-in-a-Basket
Chicken-in-a-Basket (flawed logic, but just wait for the next one)
Frog-in-a-Hole (what gives here? Frog? It’s an egg, sirs.)
Toad-in-a-Hole (ever hear of warts?)
Egg Basket
Bird’s Nest Egg
Toad Hole
Egg Hole
Pop Eyes
Egg Toast
Private Eyes
Bird’s Nest Egg-in-a-Hole Basket Toad Chicken Frog

Wow! I didn't know a recipe could have soo many names! LOL I can't wait to try our next recipe! I'll let you know how it goes! :)

Have a great week!

~Hamburger cupcakes~

Hello lovelies! How are you this morning? I'm sure you have all seen those adorable little cupcakes around the internet that look like little hamburgers? Well a couple years ago, I was wanting to find a festive birthday cake to make for my father-in-law Jack, and since he is known in our family as making {THE BEST} hamburgers...I thought these would be perfect to make for him! I thought I would share with you my version of how I made these cute little guys! They were really simple to make!

You will need:

Pineapple cans that are emptied and cleaned
Yellow cake mix (buns)
Brownie mix (hamburger)
Icing
Icing color-yellow, red, and green
White sprinkles (sesame seeds)

Optional: round cookie cutter and a leaf cake decorating tip

Directions:

First, you mix your yellow cake mix according to the package and pour the batter into the pineapple cans and bake. Then you make your brownie mix and pour it into a cookie sheet to bake. During this time you can make your icing and get it colored into 3 different colors-yellow (mustard), red (ketchup), and green (lettuce) When the yellow cake mix is finished baking and cooled, you can take them out of the cans and cut each one in half, this will be the bun of your hamburgers! When your brownies get finished baking and cooled, you can take a round cookie cutter and cut into round pieces, this will be the hamburger patty!

To assemble:

Take one of the "buns" and separate the top and bottom part of the bun. Place a brownie (hamburger patty) on the bottom part of the bun then take some green icing (I just used a leaf cake decorating tip) and make the green icing look like lettuce, then take the yellow and red icing and drizzle it over the lettuce to make it look like mustard and ketchup. When you are done then place the top of the bun on top and your done! Continue doing this until all of your hamburgers are assembled!

If you would like you can take some white sprinkles and take a little corn syrup and brush on the top of each of the burgers and sprinkle the top to make it look like sesame seeds on the buns! It will give it a festive and realistic look to your burgers!

These little guys are so festive! They would be perfect to make for a birthday party or a picnic! If you decide you want to make some or have already made some, I would love to see them! Enjoy!

Have a lovely day!

Hooo Are You? My Answers!!

NightOwlCrafting

1. What did you get/give for Valentine's Day?
The hubby and I went out to eat at Olive Garden and then we went to see "Gnomeo and Juliet" in 3D! I recently lost my job so the hubby and I said we weren't giving each other anything as far as gifts go, but since he has been working so hard at work (like 10 hrs a day and on Saturdays) I gave him a gift certificate from our chiropractor's office to get a massage! As far as my gift goes, the hubby is paying for me to go with a friend's church to the Extraordinary Women's Conference that is in March! I am so excited! I can't wait to go! Casting Crowns will be performing!

2. Do you have a vacation planned in the next couple of months or in the summer?
Probably not since I don't have a job, and hopefully if I get a job soon, I won't have vacation days for a while...

3. What is one thing you do to pamper yourself?
Nothing really...I'm not a real girly girl so I don't really pamper myself!

4. What sparks your interest to other people's blogs?

The way they "talk" in their blogs, the type of projects they make, the pictures they take! I like a wide variety of things!

5. What kind of a mood are you in today?
I was really bored today...kind of blah!

~Chic Chalkboard~

So, while dumpster diving with the BFF last year, I came across this cool arched cabinet door! I instantly thought it would be perfect to make as a fun and festive chalkboard! I didn't get around to working on it until recently, and since we had a really nice day a couple weeks ago, I went outside and painted this bad boy when I had the chance!

~Here is what the ugly thing looked like beforehand~

~Here is what it looked like all fixed up!~

I am not sure if it needs a little something else or not...What do you guys think?

Thanks for stopping by! Have a wonderful & warm day!

~Candle Holder~

Hello lovelies! I hope everyone is staying warm! Our weather here in Oklahoma is INSANE! We have had about 2 ft of snow and is getting more today! I have been stranded in my house for the last week or so and I am definitely getting cabin fever! I haven't really had alot of projects to work on because of it! I did, however, paint this little guy up before all the snow came into town...I found him at a local antique store and knew he had potential!

~Here is what he looked like before (You can see my camera and hand in the pic! LOL)~

~Here is how he looked after~

I tried to give it a frenchy feel! I just spray painted it black, added some scrapbook paper where the mirror went, and a little wooden Fleur-de-lis decal on top! I think it turned out pretty cute!

It looks alot better than the powder blue with ducks on it! LOL Thanks for looking! Have a safe and warm weekend!

Winter Blizzard of 2011!!

Wow the weather here in Oklahoma is CRAZY today! It has been snowing and sleeting all night and day! It started late last night and is still going strong! Everything is shut down and people are staying home today because the roads are not accessible! I ran outside just a few minutes ago and took some pictures!

~All bundled up! Me out in the snow~

~My car! I am not going anywhere anytime soon! LOL~

~I went out and measured it and it was between 18 to 21"!~

~Some cute front porch decor that I have!~

I am going to stay inside with the hubby today and try to stay warm! We have a big pot of stew going in the crock pot so here in a bit we will be having some of it! Can't wait! I hope every one stays warm and has a great day!
